THE IMPORTANCE OF FUNDRAISERS
We post these fundraisers because it is so important to the operation of the shelter. 90+% of the shelter costs are covered by private donations and our numerous on-going fundraising activities. We try to have different ideas that will appeal to our entire community. We have retail items, photo contests, craft fairs, annual dinners, bake sales and several other activities to generate as much interest in our fundraisers as we can. We hope to see you at one of our fundraisers. If you cannot attend, we always accept any donation - monetary, service or volunteer – we sincerely appreciate it all. We try to keep our presence in the public eye at most functions in the community. We want to thank you – the community – for your continued support. Without your help we couldn’t continue to house and care for our homeless, but very adoptable, pets of Schoolcraft County.

Pet Photo Contest
GET YOUR PET PHOTOS READY for the Annual Pet Photo Contest, sponsored by the Humane Society of Schoolcraft County.
Entries will be accepted from Wednesday, January 20, through Noon on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. Good clear 4” x 6” photos, along with $5 entry fee for each picture may be mailed to the shelter, 6091 W US Highway 2, Manistique, MI 49854, or dropped off at the shelter during business hours. Please..no people in photos….All pictures must have owners name and phone number on the back and also the name of the pet(s) pictured. Pictures will be returned to owners if a self-addressed envelope is included with the entry. Entry fees are non-refundable.
A PANEL OF JUDGES WILL PICK THE TOP 10 PHOTOS FOR THE PHOTO BOARD and votes will be counted by the amount of money placed in the slots behind the photos. Three (3) places will be awarded prizes. First is framed pet photo (8"x10") by Portraits Plus, 2nd is license plate by Design on a Tee, and 3rd is a t-shirt by Design on a Tee.
The following businesses will each host the Pet Photo Board for a week, beginning with Pamida - 2/6-13, People's Store - 2/13-20, Petique - 2/20-2/27, Jack's SuperValu - 2/27 - 3/6, Putvin Health Mart - 3/6-13, Ace Hardware - 3/13-3/20. All proceeds from the contest help the homeless, but very adoptable, pets of Schoolcraft County.

'SOUPER' LUNCHEON
Grab your favorite coffee mug and join shelter members and volunteers at the Manistique Senior Center on Sunday, March 14, 2010 for a ‘SOUPER’ LUNCHEON! 5 different soups and a chili will be offered from 11am till 2pm, all served with bread, butter, crackers and desserts by the Amity Club. Luncheon will be by donation to the Humane Society of Schoolcraft County Shelter and will help the homeless, but very adoptable, pets of Schoolcraft County. |
